Tears, stupid tears bring me down

I've done the unthinkable. Three days ago I dropped my camera in the toilet. Yup. Me. I did it.
.
Thank the LORD it was a flushed toilet, so I grabbed it out right away. I took out the memory card and battery and left them all to dry. In the morning it turned on but I couldn't view my pictures. I tried again today and now it won't even turn on. I'll recharge the battery and see what gives, but otherwise I'm camera-less for the time being. A camera is pretty much an extra limb for a blogger, so I feel pretty useless right now. Hate to do this, but I need y'all need to just bear with me, k? I'll figure something out...
And since I don't like having pictureless posts, here's one of me from a few weeks ago... in my basement... with the same outfit from the cape post... exciting, innit?

I seem to finding more and more interesting places to take pictures around my house. These pictures I took in this tiny storage room in my basement. When we bought the house over 10 years ago the room looked like this, blood red walls and green concrete floor, and we haven't touched it one bit! Who decided on that colour combination??
I'm assuming you've all noticed the new layout by now. You liiiiike? This is the first layout do-over I've done since starting the blog almost two years ago! I've been dying to get a white background, and I never really liked my old header that much to begin with so I'm pumped of all the fresh new graphics around here.
Oh, and one more thing: THE BOOTS! The ones I got off of eBay near christmas. I realized that the best way to wear these is tucked into jeans... not a major breakthough for most but BOOTS ARE NEW TO ME SO SHUT IT!! Ahhh, I'm really digging these. That is all.

Can I dream for one day?

As you can probably tell, I don't do a lot of posts on hair or make-up. Don't get me wrong, I love browsing the make-up isle, and admiring the odd hair-do on the street, but my interest in beauty related things are usually trend-driven, much more than clothes. By this I mean I usually only get excited about a certain hairstyle or make-up look if it's "trendy" or straight off the runway. It's not a bad thing, it just takes a something BIG in the beauty department to catch my attention.
While waiting in line at Aritzia last weekend, I saw some really lovely shades of nail polish near the checkout (that's where they always get you!!). I didn't think about it too much, I just grabbed it, made sure it was cruelty-free (which EVERYONE should do ALWAYS), and brought it to the register. Oh, and this particular nail polish cost 21 bucks, so I just prayed I wouldn't be dissapointed.
Last night I did just the tips of my nails, like a french manicure, which looked so stellar on one hand but... not so much on the other. So I took it all off and did all my nails with it tonight. The brand is called Knock Out Cosmetics, and I like it because its a very matte colour. Something different, right? And I love the surgery scrubs colour of the shade I picked... is that wierd?

I had to use the dreaded flash so you all could see the matte-ness of it. This is good stuff! And Im fully aware that I did a crap job, ok?? I think my next makeup purchase will be a good black lipstick. The girls over at DI$COUNT made an awesome round-up of statement lipcolours... I basically want all of them.
.
On another note, I got my little brother to make me the lego necklace from The Mighty Boosh crack fox episode. I was told that I must credit my bro everytime someone compliments me on it, so in advance: "YEAH, MY BROTHER MADE IT FOR ME"

.
Now all I need is the Joan Jett jumpsuit...yes.

So apparently I'm allergic to colour? I feel so lazy when I wear all black, but sometimes it just works. I felt like I ruled the world today in this outfit, I don't even know why!! Mabes cos I love this sack dress to death, and these Topshop tights will NEVER get old... I've only worn them once before but WHO CARES THEY RULE.

The blue-ness of these photos is all natural, I guess because I took them right before sunset. Adds to the moodiness of the shots, no? Anyone care to hear more photography commentary? Well that's good, cos that's all I've got. I almost froze to death taking these so you all should appreciate them! Ahhh the things I do for you readers. It's only cos I love you!!

AND SPEAKING OF READERS, my sneaky friend found out about this here bloggyblog (haaaai Kaeleigh!) which is new for me cos nobody in "reality" knows about it. I like having this double life, and just prefer to keep my blog to myself. What about you other bloggers out there, do your friends and family know about your blogs?

The cold song

You guys, I'm going to Capetown! No, not in South Africa --although that would be wicked. No, no, I mean I'm OBSESSED WITH CAPES!
Ok so that was a really bad joke, but seriously people, can we all just ditch the frumpy coats and go frolic in capes and little russian hats and hand muffs?? I call this Castelbajac one! Muffs always remind of that Clueless episode when they made like 500 muffs for a school project, or charity, or something. Correct me if I'm wrong, THIS IS ESSENTIAL INFORMATION PEOPLE!!!
I own one little grey cape from Urban Outfitters, which has a houndstooth print on the inside, which is really cute and very Sherlock Holmes-y. About a week ago I thrifted another one, which is about 1000x more amazing. It's huge, and red, and has arm slots (which my other one doesn't) which makes it all the more convenient to put your hands in your muff! Ahh, I'm dying for one now! Annnnyways, I call this my Little Red Riding Goth look.
OH YES. I went there.

I remembered I made this cape collage about 2 months ago, it was lurking around in my labyrinth of photo folders. Some cute ones here, no? I checked back at the sources and they're all either from eBay or Etsy, but ironically (and sadly) they're ALL sold out. We can dream though, right? Ahh what to I care, I've got the best one in my closet already! Suckaaaahs!

Hot like Mexico, rejoice

Today's post is not much more than a "what I wore" situation. Quite frankly, it's late and I wanted to be sleeping an hour ago, so I'll make this quick:
1) I wore this to school today.
2) It was gorgeous out, so just my Topshop coat was nessesary. That's a good feeling.
3) It wasn't untill I looked at these pictures that I discovered I look like some sort of punk beatnik. A good look? I hope so...

Sexiest shoes ever, courtesy of Andrew Pull Teeth. I'll be keeping these, mmmk? Even comfier than my white creepers AND they're thrifted??! Not fair.

Don't look back in anger

I guess it's a good thing that my classes start up again tomorow, because I have been SO bored lately. At night, I'm bursting with ideas and things to do the next day, but then I just end up lazing around and making my room messier and messier. It's a destructive process, I tells ya. Yesterday I went thrifting for a bit by myself to eat up some time and generally make myself feel like I did something productive with the day. Found these platform sandals which are so wrong yet so good. I think I was attracted to them because they reminded me of THOSE Pierre Hardy for Gap wedges that every blogger owns, apart from me. Now I've got my own little wannabe pair.

Need to be worn with chunky and/or printed socks. When the snow dies down these are SO getting a tour around town. And when I say around town, I mean the parking lot at the university, the library, then back home again.
Yesterday was one lucky day for shoe thrifting, also got these bright yellow pumps in amazing condition. You can't really see the colour from these photos (I refuse to use flash, SORRY) but trust me, they're to die for.

This skirt caught my eye and I just stared at it for about 5 minutes untill I decided to just buy it. It's got this wierd texture to it that I'm strangely attracted to, and I'm really tempted to rip it up a bit with holes and shreds...

On the way out I snatched this wooden necklack. Love.
