Show me your teeth

My reading week is officially over as I was back to classes today. As I mentioned before, any actual reading has been avoided to the extreme, and I mostly filled up the 10 beautiful days with shopping, crafting, and watching movies. On Saturday I watched The Hunger, whilst making chocolate fondant in a toaster oven. I know, I party HARD.
So this movie, The Hunger, with David Bowie and Susan Sarandon, is my my opinion an amazing film. Without saying too much about the plot, it's basically a movie from the 80's about imortality, vampires, and most importantly it is a movie about SUNGLASSES





I've come to the conclusion that I want to become David Bowie. No clue how, but seriously... LOVE this man.











Urrrg, I can't get over how beautiful this movie is. Ok, so the movie isn't actually about sunglasses but I counted at least seven pairs of gorgeous specs. Obvi I needed to make an outfit inspired by this movie, broken down like so:
1) A blazer, representing the power-dressing trends of the 80's. This was a big part of the wardrobe, although my screencaps don't show it.
2) Obviously a good pair of sunglasses! These are really similar to the ones Bowie wore in the beginning of the film.
3) My Egyptian skull mummy t-shirt. Symbolic of the Egyptian pentants with hidden dagger, WHICH I WANT, worn by each of the lovers.
4) My garisson cap thrown in there as the female lead rocked one in a few scenes. SO GOOD!

I was lost, so lost

I don't even know why I'm posting right now, but here it goes. Kinda lame outfit today, I dressed for the library then opted to stay home... I know, kind of a hermit OKAY??! Anyways, today's outfit, but moreso yesterdays which I didn't take pictures of, totally remind me of one of my favourite movies Mannen Som Elsket Yngve. It's Norwegian, it has amazing music, and it involves a redhead, NEED I SAY MORE??







I've seen it about 4 times and I just can't get enough of it. My friend and I are so amused by the sporadic use of English words, but I think a lot of languages do this...? AND it takes place in the year of my birth, 1989, which is another amusing tidbit. Obviously involves a lot about the fall of the Berlin wall, so watch it as an excuse to study some 20th century history! It's a win-win situation, really.

This Modern Love

Three quick things to take note of:

ONE
Hideous secondhand boots go with everything. Except a dance floor... I learnt that the hard way.

TWO
Work harder to become as beautiful, inspiring, strong, confident, and above all FEROCIOUS as the mudda-effing hotties from the 1990 documentary Paris is Burning. Amazing. Just amazing.

If number two fails, aspire to dress like any/all characters from Tintin

Where is my mind?

I haven't got much to post these days, but I think that's all going to change now that I've started watching My So-Called Life. After I put on my pure 90's outfit (read: biker shorts and Hulk Hogan sleeveless tee), I snuggled in to watch the very first episode. Seriously guys, there are waaaaaaaay too many hot outfits in this show. Not to mention the great storylines, realistic dialogue, and CLAIRE DANES who is just amazing and too charming for words. Behold:

Incase you didn't know (shame on you!) the incredibly sexy Jared Leto is in this series. Yup, it's true. His character has a thing about closing his eyes all the time.... I'm not complaining, he looks super mysterious and pensive. Mmmmmm


Gotta love 90's layering.

I couldn't make a descent screencap of this dress but trust me, it's ace. The print is like those black and white notebooks that people always have in movies (and nobody has in real life. YOU KNOW WHAT I"M TALKING ABOUT!) with a skater-skirt cut bottom. Nice.

Even after she fell in the mud in this dress (I cried a little), she still looks ferosh.

Plaid galore, I mean, the show is from 1994. What do you expect??

Clearly the piece de resistance, a RUFFLED PLAID BRA/CROP TOP SITUATION!!! Whoa, new favourite show y'all. I needs me one of them.

20 pictures later and I'm only on the FIRST EPISODE Y'ALL! Will post some more faves as I get to the next 18.... wow, that's a lot! I'm used to watching UK series which only have around 8 to 10 half hour episodes. Well, I better get crackin!
